The average marathon time for women is 5:00:39, and it’s 4:23:27 for men.
For half marathon distance, the average finish time for women is 2:11:57. For men it’s 1:55:26.
Women on average finish a 10k race in 01:03:18 and men in 53:38. For 5k distance, women’s average time is 38:12, and men finish in 29:08.
This data relates to UK runners and has been colated by RunRepeat, who conducted the first mapping of global running participation.
The analysis covered 107.9 million race results from more than 70,000 events from 1986 to 2018. This is by far the largest study of race results in history.
Remember, you only race against yourself, and a mile is a mile, whether it takes seven minutes or 17. It can be fun to set targets, but never let chasing times interfere with your love for running.
